I have exciting news…
I can finally tell the world at large, after considerable effort across the last twelve months, that I have a book contract. Flight will be published by Satalyte Publishing as an e-book and in hardcopy. Satalyte are a relatively new and dynamic publisher, focused on promoting Australian authors out into the world through print and via Amazon. I’m very happy, proud in fact, to become part of the family of talented authors under the direction of Stephen and Marieke Ormsby.
Stephen is an accomplished author with a number of published books and an all round top bloke. We get along like a house on fire, its great! Marieke is a talented artist and a lovely down to earth person. She creates many of the wonderful covers for their books. Honestly I could talk to these guys all day long. The Satalyte team are also interested in my back catalogue of novels including my most recent DreamState written in 2013.
It’s fair to say things are looking up. As an author it’s a wonderful feeling to be recognised for producing work to an industry standard. All those long hours have paid off yet there is plenty more to do. The process of taking a manuscript through to finished product is quite involved and thus Flight, with further edits and packaging, will not be out until sometime in 2015. Regardless of the delay I’m simply over the moon and can’t wait to see the cover and hold the book in my hands.
There will be a book launch. There will be a limited book tour. There will be more books.
Right now I have some mad scribblings on my whiteboard as I have mapped out the book concept I originally wanted to write in 2012, when I started DreamState for NaNoWriMo. This new book is the most complex story I have written to date and is taking all of my cognitive abilities. I love being immersed in the development of a good book, discovering the characters as they come to life and move the story along. Believe me it’s as much fun to write as it is to read.
Time to get back to work…
