Recently my family enjoyed a fantastic two week cruise out to the South Pacific islands and our cabin had a balcony. As I was relatively close to writing the end of Impatience, I took every opportunity to write outside in the lovely sunshine, clean air and amazing view of the open seas. I found this relaxed environment to be extremely invigorating and a writing utopia.
The words quite literally flew onto the page. I can quite honestly say I wrote the fastest I have ever written during this time and I enjoyed it the most too!
Latley, I’ve noticed a strange somewhat surprising symptom of regular writing. Over the last two weeks I wrote 10 nights in a row. On the eleventh night the words simply wouldn’t come. I’m now fairly certain my subconscious plays a huge part in my writing, especially when I am creating entire new sections (sorry, can’t be more specific – spoiler alert). In this instance, as has happened several times before, I awoke the next morning fully confident I had it all worked out. Sure enough, that evening it all flowed together once more.
Oooo a pic! Now you’re talking, us groupies need a glimpse of your personal life to sustain us.
Love the blog even though I am not literary, it gives a great insight into the creative process of writing. Still amazes me how you do it!!
